Healthy Starts Here: Women’s Nutrition
by Jhoane Robinson, Health Educator, Herbalist, and Co-founder of Cedar Bear Naturales
Being a woman brings its own set of challenges from the onset of menstruation, through the childbearing years (whether or not we have children), into menopause, and beyond. Having gone through each of these stages, I know a thing or two about them.
I’m going to address how to strengthen our physical foundations—the mineral and micronutrient needs of our bodies to build structural integrity, resiliency, and support longevity. We don’t just want to live longer; we want to live better for as long as we are blessed to do so!
I’m going to cut to the chase – don’t go through life without giving yourself the extra health support you need to live better! Life is too short and too special to shortchange yourself.
There are important nutrients your body needs, and Cedar Bear’s special TincTract® herbs can help. In this article, we’ll take a close look at four of Cedar Bear’s key women’s formulas and how they support health with micronutrients, trace minerals, and whole-herb nourishment. (You can also make herbal teas at home with many of these herbs to enhance your enjoyment of Cedar Bear herbal formulas. I encourage you to do so – I’m drinking a tea with Nettles, Wild Lettuce, Lemon Balm, and California Poppy as I write this article.)
Why Micronutrients & Trace Minerals Matter
Micronutrients and trace minerals are needed in small amounts, yet their impact is profound. They are essential for the following:
-
Hormone production and communication
-
Nervous system balance
-
Energy production and metabolism
-
Circulation and oxygen delivery
-
Tissue repair and structural integrity
When these nutrients are lacking—even slightly—the body often compensates in subtle ways that can affect how we feel day to day. Whole herbs provide these nutrients in naturally balanced, bioavailable forms, along with the cofactors needed for proper absorption and utilization.
Xodine™ Iodine: A Foundational Trace Mineral for Whole-Body Health
No conversation about micronutrients would be complete without highlighting iodine—one of the most essential trace minerals for women’s health at every stage of life.
Iodine is required for the production of thyroid hormones, which help regulate metabolism, energy levels, temperature balance, and overall hormonal communication throughout the body. But its role doesn’t stop there. Iodine also supports cellular health, immune function, skin and hair health, and proper growth and development, making it vital for both everyday wellness and long-term health.
The challenge is that our bodies cannot produce iodine on their own. We must rely entirely on dietary intake—and in today’s world, that intake can be inconsistent. Many modern diets fall short, and processed foods are often poor sources of this critical nutrient.
That’s where targeted supplementation can make a meaningful impact.
Xodine™ Iodine by Cedar Bear® provides iodine in a simple, bioavailable form to support not only thyroid function but also the many tissues throughout the body that depend on this essential mineral. Because nearly every cell uses iodine, maintaining adequate levels supports energy, mental clarity, metabolic balance, and overall vitality.
Xodine™ Iodine supports foundational health by helping:
-
Replenish an essential trace mineral the body cannot produce
-
Support healthy thyroid and metabolic function
-
Promote cellular, immune, and tissue health
-
Contribute to energy, skin, hair, and overall vitality
