pH Balance – A Key to Health & Longevity

pH Balance – A Key to Health & Longevity
by Jhoane Robinson, Herbalist
and L. Carl Robinson, Clinical Herbalist & Developer of Nutritional pH Factoring

If you haven’t been introduced to the concept and importance of pH balance, now’s the time! It’s been said that when a body has a balanced pH, no diseases can take hold. An interesting premise, eh?

pH is shorthand for “potential of Hydrogen.” It tells us how active the hydrogen ions are and is how we measure acidity or alkalinity, including in our body’s fluids and tissues.

pH is measured on a scale from 0-14, with 0 being the most acidic and 14 being the most alkaline. pH around 7 is considered neutral.

All living things on our planet depend on pH balance, including people. Our bodies have an intricate system for pH balancing, right down to the cellular level. The stomach is of course deeply acidic, but our blood at a pH of 7.4 is alkaline. Diet influences pH to a certain extent, and when we eat healthy, more alkaline-forming foods and herbs, it greatly benefits our health.

pH balance throughout the body is an important key to health and longevity! There are those, like followers of Dr. Sebi’s African Bio Mineral Balance concepts, who believe that supporting proper pH balance through an alkaline lifestyle is crucial for optimal health and achieving a healthier lifestyle. However, an ‘alkaline lifestyle’ is more complex than the simplistic descriptions too often attributed to it. Let us explain.

The popular Alkaline Diet, which maps out specific alkaline foods with an alkaline food list, is very similar to the Mediterranean Diet, considered by many to be the healthiest diet to follow. Both are based on eating a well-balanced diet with lots of veggies and fruits and eating minimal meats (meat is considered acid-forming), a huge factor for those following a vegan diet. Science, even without clinical trials, has found evidence that this diet can benefit bone health, and cardiovascular health, and improve the absorption of important minerals and vitamins.

Important alkaline minerals are calcium, magnesium, potassium, and sodium. Important acid minerals are chlorine, sulfur, and phosphorus. These minerals are known as electrolytes because they are involved in the body’s electrical activity. Foods and herbs that are high in electrolyte minerals help our bodies maintain vital inner pH balance that is unique to each organ system, fluid system, and cellular activity, be it more alkaline forming/driving or acid-forming/driving. BOTH acid and alkaline pH actions happen in and throughout the body. The key is to support the blood pH at 7.4, while the stomach, the inner side of the cell membrane in our cells, and many enzyme systems have to be predominately acid-driving.

In today’s fast-paced world, we can positively influence our pH balance with the mere act of eating the right foods and herbs to help our health.

  • Eat a wide variety of green vegetables.
  • Choose fish, poultry, beans, and nuts.
  • Limit red meat and cheese.
  • Avoid processed meats.
  • Limit refined grains.

Cedar Bear’s Founder, L. Carl Robinson has decades of expertise and experience in working with pH and the benefits of proper pH balance. When he developed his revolutionary TincTract® process over 35 years ago, pH played an important part. Carl had studied RBTI (Reams Biological Theory of Ionization) integrative approach to urine and saliva pH testing, as well as Revici’s work on pH’s effects on health and how pH applies to human physiology and biochemistry at both the systemic and cellular levels. Carl developed his ‘Nutritional pH Factoring’ health counseling and applied it to his multi-plex approach to formulating herbal blends.

Minerals and pH are very important foundations for why Cedar Bear® herbal products work so well! The TincTract® process, being alcohol-free, ensures that vital minerals are available for the body to utilize. Even the water used to produce TincTract® made herbs is pH neutral!

So, through the years, Cedar Bear® has become a trusted name in delivering the health support you need with the highest quality herbal dietary supplements possible.

We all know that acid corrodes. Well, an imbalanced acidic environment that’s supposed to be more alkaline corrodes our health. Foods and herbs considered to be alkaline-driving are high in important alkaline-dominant electrolyte minerals, so supporting your health with alkaline-driving/electrolyte mineral-rich foods and herbs makes a lot of sense.

While a food or herb may not be ‘alkaline’ in and of itself, it’s what it does when metabolized that makes the difference. We’re talking ‘metabolic byproducts’ here, and whether they are acid-forming or alkaline-forming.

Good health is all about balance. Within our bodies, there is a constant and intricate back-and-forth dance at the cellular level where pH goes between acid and alkaline in a cyclic fashion. It’s part of how the body produces and utilizes energy, so we need both acid and alkaline activity in the body. It just needs to be balanced.

We cannot live if our blood’s pH goes more than .2 points outside of the 7.4 pH that is essential to health and life, itself. All body organs and cellular activity, as a synergistic whole, work at making sure the blood is at a pH of 7.4. That is why when someone speaks of alkaline-forming diets or an alkaline lifestyle, whether they know it or not, they are talking about keeping the blood at its proper pH.

From the beginning, Cedar Bear’s work has been about balance. Using an alchemical model he developed those many decades ago, the aim of Carl’s formulations is to bring inner balance to whatever health need is being addressed, both with the TincTract® process, and the herbs, themselves. Balance is in the synergy of how the herbs work together in the body.

Made with Cedar Bear’s innovative TincTract® process, Cedar Bear® herbal supplements are uniquely effective because the minerals and enzymes in the herbs themselves are bio-available and bio-utilizable. That means you get amazing benefits when you use Cedar Bear® herbal products.

Formulated to have a gentle but effective action in the body, a Cedar Bear® product works as a true dietary supplement and helps your body do the job it’s supposed to do. When you approach health holistically, bringing Cedar Bear’s herbal remedies into your healthcare support can make an amazing difference.

For over 35 years now, herbs made with the TincTract® process (more effective than TINCtures or exTRACTs) have been benefitting people of all ages. As a small business with big capabilities, we’ve worked hard to always be true to our core values of Innovation, Integrity, and Inspiring, and to always keep the original small batch quality and effectiveness of our products as our company has grown.
