Pau d’Arco Blend for Kids

Gut Flora Cleanser & Immune Stimulator

If your child tends to experience tummy upsets, gassiness, difficulty with focusing, fatigue, irritability, moodiness, unexplainable giddy behavior, strong sugar cravings, urinary issues, itching in sensitive places, a runny nose that won’t go away, smelly breath, food sensitivities, or an immune system that doesn’t seem to be doing its job, it’s easy to miss that there may be an issue with your child’s gut flora.

What is gut flora?

We all have it. Within our gut (the gastrointestinal tract), is the naturally occurring gut flora, which is essentially a ‘community’ of trillions of microorganisms that live within us, called the gastrointestinal microbiome.  This microbiome in our digestive system aids digestion and supports immune system functions. (Over 70% of your child’s immune system is in the gut, and healthy gut flora is vital for proper immune function.)

These organisms in the gut flora all live happily together in a symbiotic fashion until something happens that throws things out of whack. If your child has had antibiotics, (especially more than once), corticosteroids, or has been eating a diet high in sugar, sweets and treats, chances are you’re dealing with gastrointestinal ‘beasties’ of some kind.

Imbalanced gut flora can impact children of all ages and can affect your child’s behavior, emotions, and health. Even some developmental issues may have their roots in the gut flora in the gastrointestinal tract having been thrown off balance. The younger the child, the more easily their gut flora can be disturbed.

Gut Flora Enemies

Antibiotics kill the ‘bad guys’ AND the ‘good guys’ in the gut flora. This can cause increasing digestive and immune issues, as your child’s gut flora plays an important role in both digestive processes and immune functions. Often, this sets up a cycle of frequent antibiotic use, throwing your child’s digestive and immune health even more out of balance. Other factors in unbalancing your child’s gut flora are sugar and junk food, corticosteroid inhalers, strong chemical therapies, weakened immune system conditions, and stress.

Your Child’s Gut Health and Diet

Diet is a very important part of supporting your child’s healthy gut flora. Probiotics are the ‘good’ bacteria needed, and unsweetened kefir and yogurt are good sources. Give your child plenty of whole vegetables, avoid sweeteners and sugars of any kind, and limit intake of fruits and grains while working to cleanse and rebuild healthy gut flora.

Herbal Ally – Pau d’Arco Blend

There are excellent herbs that, in the right combination, can give a tremendous boost to your child’s gut flora balance and give great immune system support at the same time. Pau d’Arco Blend by Cedar Bear’s Founder and Clinical Herbalist, L. Carl Robinson, was originally formulated for children and has carefully chosen herbs to help gently clear out the ‘bad guys’ in the gastrointestinal microbiome so the ‘good guys’ can flourish. Pau d’Arco Blend does a wonderful job supporting the beneficial gut flora in your child’s microbiome. It also stimulates the immune system and helps immune system cells communicate with each other better, supports healthy cell structure, and has a health-protecting antioxidant action.
