Heal All Leaf/Flower

Heal All – Its Name Says It All!

Heal All Leaf/Flower, Self Heal (Prunella vulgaris)

Heal All, Self Heal, Woundwort, Prunella… whatever name you give it, this amazing herb should be in your home herbal medicine cabinet. Heal All supports just about every health need imaginable.

Heal All is a small purple flowering plant in the mint family that grows like a ground cover. The first word in its Latin Name, Prunella, is derived from a German word for a throat issue that it was frequently used for. The second word, vulgaris, means ‘common’. Prunella is a common plant in many parts of the world and has been used for centuries throughout Europe and Asia, and by Native Americans, too.

Even though Prunella is in the mint family, it doesn’t smell or taste like mint, but more like its cousin rosemary, with even more antioxidants than the herbs it is closely related to. It has actions like elderberry, astragalus root, and medicinal mushrooms, and works well with herbs like stinging nettle and lemon balm. In fact, it works well in combination with most other herbs.

Heal All is regarded throughout most of the world a one of those plants that seems able to do just about everything. Heal All is almost legendary for its benefits for gastrointestinal tract tissues, the lymphatic system, and immune system strengthening. It also supports the kidneys and fluid dynamics throughout the body, supports healthy blood pressure levels, and cools body tissues.

As a lymphatic herb, Heal All helps move lymph and clear the lymph nodes, and is especially beneficial to breast lymphatic tissues. Its astringent (tissue tightening) action makes it beneficial throughout the body. Called Woundwort in the 1500’s in Europe, Heal All helps with tissue building, especially throughout the digestive tract.

Heal All has no known toxicity and hasn’t shown any interactions with medications.

As it is extremely gentle on the body, almost anyone of any age, including children, can benefit from using Heal All.
