CBN™ glycerite processing technologies breaks this barrier due to original R&D that led to the innovative multi-step proprietary protocols, procedures and specialized equipment utilized in CBN™ true alcohol-free glycerin-based liquid processing of botanicals containing difficult to extract compounds. Alcohol is known to be a good exctractive solvent for some of these compounds (i.e. Oleoresins and Resinoids) though it has a denaturing and inert rendering effect on these same compounds. However, CBN™ proprietary glycerin-based processing technologies meet and often exceed alcohol's extractive efficiency and potential for these compounds without the well established and known denaturing and/or inert rendering effects alcohol often imparts to these compounds. Where the highly linear polysaccharide chitin is concerned, which alcohol cannot penetrate or break down (and in fact further hardens/crystalizes), CBN™ innovative glycerin-based serialized processing technologies excel at extracting chitin-bound compounds. In 2005 the claimed for efficiency of the proprietary 6th generation TincTract® liquid herb glycerite based processing technology was verified through a landmark independent 3rd party lab analysis. Analyzing the TincTract® of Cordyceps was decided by CBN™ to be the best indicator of overall extractive efficiency for all the other products CBN™ makes. Why? Because Cordyceps consists of the same material as a crab and lobster shell does. This material is called chitin (pronounced 'ki-tn'), and alcohol and/or non-critical water based extractions will not break down or penetrate chitin enough to effectively extract Cordyceps (or any other mushroom/fungi) compounds. (In fact, the super-critical hot water extraction processes are still very limitied in their ability to break down chitin material evidenced by the need to take a super-saturate approach and the huge amount of raw material required to meet their requirements for sepcific 'Standardized' polysaccharide content.)
Part of the analysis included cedar Bear Naturales™ TincTract® of Cordyceps glycerite extractive efficiency being compared to a pharmaceutical based 50:1 high pressure gas extraction efficiency of Cordyceps. When the gram-for-gram of raw material extraction efficiency was compared, the TincTract® of Cordyceps glycerite extractive efficiency was found to be 500 to 700 times higher for 12 of 13 marker compounds analyzed than the pharmaceutical based 50:1 high pressure gas extraction processed Cordyceps sample – proving beyond a shadow of doubt that the TincTract® glycerite extraction technology is cutting-edge, very efficient and results in one of the most potent poly-constituent based liquid herbal products available.
