Our Roots – Clinical Herbalism & Nutritional Science
Shortly after LoR. Caarl Robinson had originated and co-developed the 1st generation TincTract® process in 1982 he was approached by a respected and well known midwife to formulate a calcium enriching liquid herbal formula using liquid herbs made from the TincTract® process. Through the years this midwife (who had by then personally delivered over 1,000 babies and oversaw countless other deliveries) had dealt with cases in which pregnant women would have low blood calcium levels (even after their taking mega doses of differing calcium supplements). She noted that each succeeding generation of pregnant women were showing this problem more so than the prior generation they had come from, and she intuitively felt that a poly-constituent based TincTract® based liquid herbal formulation compounded with herbs for 'enriching' blood calcium levels might correct the problem.Mr. Robinson formulated a calcium enriching TincTract® herbal formula where it was used on pregnant women exhibiting seriously low blood calcium levels. After taking the formula for one week (with no other changes in diet, fluid intake, activity, etc.) the women had thier blood calcium levels checked... and they were at the top end of blood calcium levels where they were supposed to be. These women took the calcium enriching TincTract® formula throughout the rest of their pregnancy and blood calcium levels remained where they were supposed to be, or higher.
Over the following years other midwives throughout the country noted the same results consistently when a calcium enriching TincTract® liquid herbal formula was taken by pregnant women under their care. This original formula – Herbal Minerals™ – became the basis for what would be many clinically-based multiplex formulated liquid TincTract® herbal formulas. (Interestingly, a mineral analysis of TincTract® Herbal Minerals™ would show that there is nowhere the amount and levels of calcium present to account for the increased blood calcium levels that results from use of Herbal Minerals™ – logically concluding that there are other important constituents and/or factors, many of a 'micro' nature, in Herbal Minerals™ that assists the body in a more efficient uptake, of the very dietary minerals already found in abundance in consumed foods, into the blood stream. Many TincTract® liquid herbal singles and formulas possess this intriguing paradox.)
Later, Mr. Robinson was approached by a fellow herbalist colleague who had been approached by a number of health practitioners (both professional/licensed and lay) to develop the first of a small line of 100% true alcohol-free liquid TincTract® herbal formulas specifically for children. Mr. Robinson took that initial effort and expanded it into the themed full lines of products Cedar Bear Naturales™ now produces. These products were sold through clinics and dispensary-based store fronts for the first decade where they were proven in clinical and practitioner settings.
In 2005 two important events took place that verified the premise and assertions Mr. Robinson and Cedar Bear Naturales™ had made concerning the TincTract® process and the biologically viability of their Ratio-Intact polyconstituent based TincTract® processed products.
Independent 3rd Party Analysis
The first involved a thorough independent 3rd party lab analysis of one of the hardest of all ingredients to liquid process, cordyceps, wherein that test pitted a 'Genuine TincTract® Made' cordyceps sample against a pharmaceutical-based 50:1 High Pressure Gas extraction processed cordyceps sample to ascertain which process possessed the most gram-for-gram of raw material processed extraction efficiency. The second involved two clinical pilot trials. The first was done at the largest asthma & allergy clinic in the United States under the aegis of one of its lead physician specialist who ran clinical pilot studies on a product Cedar Bear Naturales™ private manufactures for an account wherein its samples were tested against another company's product made from the same batch of raw ingredient. Though both product types showed a rapid response in 79% of the subjects, the Cedar Bear Naturales™ 100% true glycerite (of Fijian Red Mangrove) did so at 1/2 the dosage levels of the competitor's product, along with the fact that the TincTract® process uses 7 times less raw materail for making its product than the competitor's saturate based super-critical processed product used.The second was a series of pilot studies done by a well known stress & pain relief clinic located in the American southwest where they did trials for Cedar Bear Naturales™ joint & pain relief formula and respiratory formulas. The pilot study for the joint & pain relief formula showed an 87% positive response to the product, and the study for the respiratory formulas showed similar results both among clinic personnel and the outside individuals who participated in the follow-up study.

While many sectors of the scientific and business community may sing the monoconstituent isolate/fractionate-based song of 'Standardized,' 'Potency Guaranteed,' 'High Ratio of Herb Used to Finished Liquid,' or any of a number of other monoconstituent-based tunes, Cedar Bear Naturales™ boldly ask, "What About An Efficacy Standard?" Our Category Defining Stance
Other companies spend innordinate amounts of time focusing on what specific constituent(s) or component(s) they extract from an herb, especially those of the 'Standardized' potency guaranteed ilk, but seldom if ever do they even ask, "What is the state of the constituent of the finished preparation AFTER it has been extracted." Chemicals, gases and most solvents (which includes alcohol) to one degree or another all have a denaturing and/or inert rendering effect on a botanical's extracted compounds, sometimes even complexifying with those compounds into something not intended for consumption. Some of these effects are so profound that either the compound does not work as assumed, or to get an appreciable level of efficacy, much more has to be consumed to get an effect, what biochemists term, "forcing a metabolic pathway." (Is this why Standardized products have such high active constituency levels, because those constituents are so denatured and/or rendered inert from the extraction process itself, that much more is required to get any noted effect?)Because the glycerin solvent of a TincTract® herbal glycerite does not denature or render a botanical's compounds inert, and the fact that the TincTract® process is engineered to extract constituents and compounds in a Ratio–Intact polyconstituent fashion, not only is the full spectrum of compounds available, but the ratio-intact synergy between all constituents and intrinsic compounds remains in place, thereby maintaining important biological viability. We feel that this ratio-intact polyconstituent synergy sparing approach is what accounts for why so much less raw material is needed for making a TincTract® product and why the finished products exhibit such profound efficacy, even at half the dose of competitors similar type high herb-to-fluid ratio saturate extracted products.
